The purpose of St. Barnabas’ Baptismal Shawl Ministry is to lend prayer support and to welcome newly baptized members into the family of God in a very tangible way. The hand made shawl is intended to be a reminder of the early Christian practice of giving the newly baptized a new white garment to wear, symbolizing that he or she is now a new person in Christ.

Prayer shawls are made with prayers woven into each one. Loving hearts and hands make up the Prayer Shawl Ministry. The crafter prays for the recipient as her needles create a soft shawl that is given to a member of the congregation in times of trial. Prayer shawls are a tangible way to help them feel the prayers of the congregation and to experience God in a warm and loving way.

Yarn & Coffee is a small group for people who love to knit or crochet. They meet the 4th Thursday at 9:30 a.m., working on prayer shawls, baptismal shawls, or personal projects.

All skill levels are welcome. Mary Pestel, 763-559-9138.
