Navigator's Confirmation is the heart of our ministry to Middle School youth. Including youth in grades 6-9, Navigators incorporates worship, small group conversation, and service as we nurture our young people in faith.
This ministry includes:
Grades 6-8: Weekly meetings on Wednesday nights, beginning with True North Worship at 6:00 pm, followed by small group conversation until 7:30 pm. Following the Narrative Lectionary - a story-based sequence of Bible readings that takes us from the Old through the New Testament each year - we seek to help youth understand the Biblical story and how their story fits into God's story. The Catechism is covered at yearly retreats for each grade level.
9th Grade: The heart of our 9th-grade ministry is mentoring. Young people choose a mentor who meets with them monthly on Wednesday nights throughout the year, as well as weekly during Lent. Youth and mentors attend worship together, followed by one-on-one conversation that explores issues of faith. A summer trip such as a mission trip, BWCA trip or camp is also an important part of this year as youth explore living out their faith in a new setting.
10th Grade: Following a ½-day retreat in the fall, 10th-graders are confirmed on Reformation Sunday of their sophomore year.
