Gary Boehler was born and raised in Hazen, North Dakota, a small farming and mining community 75 miles northwest of Bismarck. He has three sisters and one brother.

He graduated from Hazen high school in 1965 and then attended NDSU College of Pharmacy in Fargo, graduating in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy.

After graduation, Gary worked as a pharmacist in Dubuque, Iowa for 2½ years, then returned to North Dakota and worked for an independent owner for five years. In 1977 he went to work for White Drug (now Thrifty White Drug) where he spent 34 years and ended his career as Executive Vice President of Pharmacy in 2011 when he retired.

Gary and his wife Margaret have six children, four of whom live in the Twin Cities and two daughters in Salt Lake City, Utah and Seal Beach, CA. They have three granddaughters and one grandson (two here and two in California).

Gary and Margaret's hobbies include spending as much time with their grandchildren as is possible, collecting and driving classic muscle cars from the 60's, shooting, and motorcycling. Margaret still works a full time job as IT support at Thrifty White; once that is completed, they have plans for a lot of domestic travel.

Gary and Margaret have been members at St. Barnabas Church for nearly two years and in that time have gotten to know a lot of its members, and truly consider it "home."
